But symbols like this where thousands are protesting are very effective to calm dissent. Do a little research and you will find the the Vatican often used such symbols to move the masses into a desired direction all along. They even went so far as to paint horrific images on robes that were placed on people they hoped to sway into heresy. Oftentimes it worked, just as I'm sure this guillotine worked on many this day as well. And if you don't think such tactics are to be used in America where we claim to be civilized.
